Treatment of Acid Spills with ecoplus
ecoplus can be used on any acid spill and all soils can be treated. Small amounts of product will neutralize large quantities of acid. The used product can be applied as compost to the soil.
Advantages
ecoplus Acid is capable of treating all types of acid spills, on soil or hard surfaces. The ability of ecoplus Acid to neutralize acid lies in the chemical composition of the product. The neutralizing reaction occurs immediately to produce a neutralized end product which still contains all nutrients, but with no micro-organisms due to the intense reaction between the product and the spilled acid.
The nutrient content will enhance bacterial growth in the soil (which has perished as a result of the spilled material). Within 2 weeks, micro-organisms will be visible in the soil. The soil will become even more fertile after the spill due to the nutrient enriched nature of ecoplus Acid.
Immediately after neutralization with ecoplus Acid, the soil is ready for any plants.
The treated soil is now filled with organic material and microbial life.
Directions for use
Simply spread the product on the polluted surface to bring into contact with the acid as quickly as possible. The reaction will take only a couple of minutes to complete. After the reaction is completed, test the acid spill with a normal pH -stick. If the pH is still acidic, neutralize with more product.
Disposal
Please be advised that due to the large variety of pollutants (hydrocarbon, chemical, paints and other) that ecoplus can encapsulate, and the widely varying disposal regulations relating to each one, as well as differing geographic jurisdictions, we recommend that you dispose according to local regulations at the spill site and that you contact your local authorities for advice in this regard.
Used and saturated ecoplus can be disposed of as follows:
- Plough the used ecoplus into the earth (land farmed)
- Dump in an environmentally approved site
- Incinerate
- Containerize
Dosing Rate Table
The following table is a rough guideline of the dosing rate at which ecoplus needs to be applied. Dosing rates may vary depending on the nature and viscosity (thickness) of the pollutants.
