ecoplus is the ultimate nutrient enriched absorbent with built in remediation for hydrocarbon (oil) and chemical spills and is effectively a "one stop" spill solution.

ecoplus is 100% organic and:

effectively encapsulates

ecoplus effectively encapsulates hydrocarbons (oil) and chemicals in soil, on hard surfaces, on water and is non-leaching.

bio-remediates

ecoplus contains micro-organisms (both aerobic and anaerobic) and bacteria which metabolize hydrocarbons. These micro-organisms are in a dormant state and become active in the presence of hydrocarbons, nutrients and water.

is nutrient enriched

ecoplus contains all the macro and micro elements (nutrients) necessary to support life in soil and facilitate bio-remediation. These nutrients sustain the micro-organisms found in ecoplus and provide the basis for them to proliferate in an otherwise sterile environment. These micro-organisms in turn, then metabolize hydrocarbons.

These same nutrients (ecoplus is classified as a group 2 fertilizer) will also support plant growth in the affected area.

The above properties enable ecoplus to offer a perfectly balanced solution. When an oil or chemical spill occurs the land is effectively sterilized and is rendered free of all life and nutrients. ecoplus encapsulates the pollutant, restores micro-organisms to the soil and supplies them with all the nutrients necessary to sustain them and enable them to rapidly multiply. These micro-organisms then feed on and break down the hydrocarbons, thus replenishing the earth.

From the testing that we have done we have found that the earth is always better off after treatment than it was, even before the spill ...

It has always been our belief that a chemical problem (in nature) cannot be treated with a chemical solution and for this reason we have developed an organic product, which essentially gives Mother Nature the tools to rapidly and effectively do the rehabilitation Herself.

how ecoplus works
  • Absorption of the spilled hydrocarbons occur when the oil is drawn into the ecoplus fibres.
  • ecoplus lowers the surface tension of the oil.
  • Humic acids in ecoplus then hydrolyze the oil through carboxylase enzymatic reactions to form long chain organic acids.
  • Bacteria (micro flora) utilize these organic acids through enzymatic reactions to form acetic acid.
  • Acetic acid in turn, forms the basic building block for the production of either Carbon Dioxide and water under aerobic conditions or Methane (CH4) and water under anaerobic conditions. It is important to remember that these are the only by-products that remain after the oil has been metabolized.
  • Carbon is used by organisms for the synthesis of proteins and Hydrogen in the electron transfer chain.
