ecoplus is a 100% organic product and is derived from organic material which has been manipulated in order to change it's absorption capability as a hydrophilic compound and to become oleophilic (oil loving) and hydrophobic (resistant to water). ecoplus as a result, has a natural affinity to absorb and encapsulate hydrocarbons / compounds in any form of suspension. This is further facilitated by it's fibrous nature which allows for the absorption of hydrocarbons through powerful capillary action. Due to the nature of the manipulation of the hydrophilic structure, the micro-organisms are intact and dormant and become active as soon as hydrocarbons are added (ecoplus contains a diverse population of bacteria).

Unique to ecoplus is the nutrient content, which enable micro-organisms to grow, multiply and metabolize (break down) hydrocarbons.

All living organisms need a combination of Carbon, Hydrogen, Phosphorous and Nitrogen (macro-elements) in order to live and to multiply.

Just as important are the micro-elements needed by all living organisms for their metabolism. Some of these important elements are: Zinc, Molybdenum, Manganese, Iron, Copper, Boron, Sulfur, Magnesium, Potassium and Calcium. All of these elements are found in ecoplus. Without these elements growth, in soil, cannot be sustained.

The above micro and macro elements found in ecoplus enable the micro-organisms to multiply. When these micro-organisms reproduce they release enzymes which in turn break down the hydrocarbon bonds in petrochemical compounds. The resultant carbon and hydrogen compounds are then used by the organisms to produce energy which is needed for growth. This process can only occur in the presence of elements such as Phosphorous and Nitrogen which are also provided by ecoplus.

After the absorption of petrochemical compounds, ecoplus will stimulate microbial growth with species such as Euglena, Rhizoclonium, Paramoecium, Colpoda proliferating within 2 weeks.
